Ekarett

Ekarett has always been a continent at war. The ancient histories are long forgotten, but in the past millennium, four kings, each leading their own kingdom, fought to claim the central, unclaimed region, then only known by the locals as the Claimless. The four kingdoms: Royekanti, the deserts to the west, Ekorath, the southern mountainous tropics, Lekriast, the eastern flatlands, and the secluded Kamreioth, the snowbound tribesmen to the north, all fought for their claim to it. The battles were vicious, bloody, brutal. More so than any continent perhaps knows even today. But there was something wrong. Men thought dead would simply rise again, their blood flowing back into their veins and their skin stitching back together to leave no trace it was ever broken. They were a bit addled, confused, but they could just keep on fighting. No ground was ever gained in this way, and the kings fell back, to organize an agreement. The kings signed a treatise of peace over the central region, and named it Gillarast, in deference to Tirangil, the god of death. Those kings are long since dead, and in their place, Gillarast has become known as the Frayed Lands, where those with adventurous and dangerous souls go to fight for glory and honor… or just to get rich. But what they don’t know, or what many choose to ignore, is that with every death, their soul becomes less and less tied to them. The threads of their life become frayed. So, if they ever choose to leave this place, they are known as the Frayed Ones, those all but lacking a soul.
