Frisa Streyis
Frisa Streyis is a jungle paradise on the northwestern borders of Quor Zanin. The city is a beautiful conglomoration of stone and foliage, with legendary walls of smooth marble, unmarked by time or the elements. While thin and low, these walls have been known to hold back assaults with the most brutal of war machines without so much as trembling.
The interior of the city is all sunny cobbled pathways and small houses built of brick, with jungle leaves for their thatched roofs. Most of the poorer residents live in houses of this nature, with the central part of the city being reserved for nobles and the military.
The central military and noble district, called Streyati Felin, is a small city in itself. Here, the cavalry and scouts train, the former on the backs of their large jungle cat mounts, the latter in rigorous stealth tests. The most adept of Streyan elves can move so silently, not even a dragon could sense them.
The Streyan military is one of the strongest on Kirandur. It's scouts are fast and adept with the blade and the bow, as well as potent poisons. They have vowed, however, to never use Laxeiorin poisons in their training. That's a sickness they'd rather not spread.
The cavalry consists of elves who raise a jungle cat from cubhood. Most prefer the fastest, such as leopards and cheetahs, though the strongest, largest and most stalwart will take the lions, for their ferocity and pride.
All elves who enlist in the military are given a choice: They are offered a potion that, once drank, will give them powers akin to the rare beastfolk. They become more catlike in appearance, with light fur across their bodies. Their teeth become longer and sharper, their nails more clawlike, and their hearing and agility, though already high, become nearly superhuman. Those that choose this are called the Felinali.
At the center of Streyati Felin, the Great Keep rises in all it's blue marble glory. The keep is made of one colossal block of marble, carved and sculpted to form the image of an enormous lion, resting with one eye open. It was a message the old kings wanted to put forth: "Mistake not our reticence for cowardice. The lion sleeps, but he sleeps with one eye open. Anger him and he will wake."
Frisa Streyis' elves are cousins to those who live in Oakanrel. Many can trace their origins back there, to when elves set out to explore and settle the jungles to the south many thousands of years ago. They have changed over the years, their pale skin becoming darker, brightly colored hair becoming more black and brown, and with a slightly fuller, more muscular build than the light-footed, lean builds of their forest dwelling brethren.
