Holdurin's Rest

Holdurin's Rest, located at the south of the Holdurin Plains, is a relatively small trade city. Only about half the size of Rendgarde, it mainly houses stone workers and the houses of merchant families. The city is a confusing warren of twisting streets of cobbled stone and straight, dirt paved alleyways. The rich and the peasantry live shoulder to shoulder in relative peace.

The Holdurin's Rest militia is composed of no-nonsense men and women designed to hold back the bandits of the plains to the north of them. They're some of the most incorruptible people Kirandur has known, and while their force is small, they make up for it in drive.

History

Holdurin's Rest is named for it's creator, Holdurin Mantell, an explorer from Illeskir who discovered Klagrond long ago. He crossed the Holdurin Plains with nothing but his horse and two canteens of water. He nearly died, and he was forced to kill his horse to survive as he made his way further onward. When he finally saw green, he nearly collapsed, and was taken in by a border tribe that wandered the plains.

Here, he met Leuriel, the daughter of the tribe's chieftain. They fell in love, of course, and Holdurin fathered a son. They built their homestead on the borders of the grasslands to the south, and from that, they built a small village, which they called "Holdurin's Rest." The city grew from there as Holdurin's children and grandchildren built families of their own, and it grew and evolved into the city it is today.
