Entrances into Gillarast are generally connected to the capital cities of each of the four kingdoms, heavily monitored and guarded, to know who’s going in and who’s coming out. The fifth, and most commonly used, is for initiates out of Stoneshire. The academy has a small embassy office in the central city of Gilmarrow, where a portal is set up for new fighters. They’re given direction here and can set out on their various quests. Gilmarrow is a small city, all things considered. Flat, with no walls, it’s built in such a fashion where the buildings at it’s center are tightly packed, but the further out you go, the lesser the buildings become. A good portion of the southern reaches of Gillarast are heavily tropical, the influence of Ekorath felt profoundly. The foothills of Ekorath’s mountains are in the southermonst point, where their capital entrance city, Ekrai, is set. The southwestern area of Gillarast flattens out into the sandy outskirts of the deserts of Royekanti, which cover the westermonst edge of Gillarast entirely. The capital city of Kranticra is set here as well. The northern edge of Gillarast grows snowy and dark, and there is no capital city here that guards the entrance. Just an outpost controlled by no more than twenty men at a time. Kamreioth’s presence in Gillarast is felt the least, and it’s darkness keeps most people away just by it’s inhospitality. The eastern edge of Gillarast is bordered by lush flatlands that back onto the coast far away to the east, though that’s far out of Gillarast’s reach. The Lekriasti people are by far the most friendly, and their floral city, Durola, is a frequent place of celebration to the citizens, and visitors, of Gillarast. Directly surrounding Gilmarrow though, is largely hundreds of miles of wooded farmland. Forests are broken up here and there by rivers, farming villages, fields and the like, with a few landmarks of note scattered throughout, to be detailed later. The roads are primarily dirt, with very few paved, given the lack of people willing to risk their souls on such projects in such a wild place. Because though Gillarast is, indeed, beautiful, it’s ultimately dangerous, wild, and you need to be strong to thrive, nay, survive there. Cling to your soul. Don’t let it fray. The final landmark, surrounding all of Gillarast, is the wall, built by the kings millennia ago and kept constantly guarded and repaired. It’s simply called The Barrier.
