Unicorn
The Unicorn
The unicorn is a being of pure, unbridled freedom. Born to mares healed or blessed by Sorrelia, they begin their lives as small, white horses with a single, nubby horn protruding from their forehead. They are all female, yet another daughter of the goddess. They spend their formative years running and playing, and when they are fully grown, they appear as huge, powerfully built destriers, and their horns have grown to almost three feet in length.
It is at this point that the goddess will make herself known to them. She will bid the unicorn to look upon her with the eyes of another, and the unicorn will take the form of a human woman. Their horn transforms into a spear, and the goddess will teach them what it is to be both human and creature of myth.
Unicorns are exceptionally rare. Perhaps only four are born each century, and, should they choose to take lovers, they can only birth children of the race they have chosen when they walk on two legs. Some will appear as orcs. Others, humans. Most choose the form of elves, but one or two have taken the form of goblins, even. Whatever the case, they are rare and exceptionally beautiful in either form.
