Sheskhet
Sheskhet is the largest human settlement in Quor Zanin. It is a massive, sprawling city, reaching along the eastern coast, but built to not extend far inland. It's houses are beautiful constructions of mud brick, stone, and wood, and it's temples are legend, built of pure gold and jewels mined from the hills at their back.
Due to their extensive mining operations, Sheskhet is a wealthy city in itself, and rules alongside the city of Frisa Streyis, far away to the northwest. The two cities often meet to discuss matters of state, and together they make a powerful kingdom in itself.
Sheskhet is built in a narrow fashion, and it's various districts are lined up, with the northernmost being the poorest, and the southernmost being the most aristocratic. The southern tip is where the royal family lives, on a small peninsula reaching out into the Sea of Shifting.
Sheskhet's most defining feature, however, is it's statue gardens, sprawling lawns of green grass and tropical plants, with the statues of the dead standing within. The dead aren't buried in Sheskhet. They are, instead, entombed in stone and placed in one of these gardens. They are often entombed doing things they loved in life. Some may be simply sitting on a bench, reading a book. Another may be playing with a favorite tool or toy. Yet another may be hard at work, crafting something at a stone forge. The statue gardens of Sheskhet are one of the wonders of Klagrond, and many monks and other religious figures will travel here for meditation and to pay their respects.
