The Knot of Astarielle

The Knot of Astarielle is a series of five major rivers crossing Hakaoros, all originating in the mountain city of Briaka. From west to east, they are: Talura River: The smallest of the rivers, it flows northwest, ending in the sea. Cylastoen River: This river curves up through Tal's Bones' western borders, and is the deepest, and most dangerous, of the rivers. Altierav River: The central river is the most straightforward. It curves along the southern border of Tal's bones, then turns north just east of Vertiyim, running straight and true to the northern coast. Daluvim River: This is the largest of the rivers, and the river that connects the preceding two. The river starts by curving east, almost reaching the eastern coast, before turning north and west, skirting the southern border of Yilisca. Then, it crosses the Altierav as it curves north and west through Tal's bones, meeting with the Cylastoen. It empties into the sea on the northwestern corner, between Drak Tureil and Grandmast, and it's tributary, the Leil, branches off to cut through Drak Tureil. Khaladkir River: The easternmost river heads eastward from Briaka, connecting it with two other cities. It passes just beyond Xavrotahl, passes through the Valley Of Rot, and finally empties into the bay just south of Dalcrad. Given it's passage through the cursed valley, it is only used under the most dire circumstances, and many ships lay wrecked along it's tainted bed.
