Stormshatter Mountains

The Stormshatter mountains make up the northern border of Klagrond propper and the northern border of the kingdom of Ryvalen. North of the mighty Rendgarde, they spread for thousands of miles, acting as a strong border between Moralon Etherhal and the rest of the continent.

Environment

While much of the Stormshatter range is made up of rocky black mountains, the valleys between are typically beautiful, hospitable places, if you know where to look. The foothills are a popular vacation spot for nobles and the affluent, and several farming towns can be found here, taking full advantage of the rich black soil. The deeper you go, though, the more inhospitable the place becomes, and the valleys turn more to tundra and treachery than verdant hideaways.

Peoples

Many races live in the Stormshatter Mountains. Dwarves mine the mountains, and many powerful dwarf lords hold claim to parts of the range. In the valleys and ranging the slopes are the orcs, and humans can be found hacking out rough existences in the wilds of the mountains. The Fae also have a presence here, primarily Storm Fae, Mountain Fae, and Snow Fae.

Dangers

The Stormshatter Mountains are known for their violent storms, hence their name, with not only snow and wind to worry about, but hail and lightning at higher altitudes. Rogue bands of desperate people live here too, willing to ambush and kill you just to keep themselves fed and warm.

Several cities can be found here as well, primarily outposts for the bands of rogues and the like, though one, a black walled monstrosity hidden in a wide valley at the center of the mountains, simply called Bonefrost, is controlled by a powerful lich and crewed by his personal cavalry of undead knights and soldiers. This is, in a twisted form of the word, an embassy to Kiriloth, giving the emperor a foothold on Klagrond.
